COMPANY HISTORY
BOOM CRACK! Dance Company is a performance-driven, hip-hop-based company that blends street dance, commercial movement, and concert-style choreography to push the boundaries of hip-hop in professional dance spaces. Established in Chicago in 2009 by Artistic Director Trae Turner, our mission is to showcase hip-hop dance's depth, artistry, and athleticism while creating impactful performances that engage and inspire audiences.
Our choreographic style is rooted in hip-hop foundations while embracing contemporary influences to create bold, dynamic, and emotionally resonant work.

ARTISTIC DIRECTION
Trae is the founder and Artistic Director of BOOM CRACK! Dance Company. He is an adjunct Professor at Columbia College Chicago as well as a teaching artist at Visceral Dance Center and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. He has completed choreography and artist development for recording artists including Kelis, Phenix Phenom, Andre McCray, Jess Godwin, R&B singer Kam, and teen sensation Yemi Marie. As a performer, he has opened for Ne-Yo, Rod Stuart, Janet Jackson, and many more. Trae continues to change the perception of hip hop dance by pushing its boundaries and showcasing hip hop on professional platforms.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Our Summer Intensives were established to create a platform for the Chicago and Midwest dance community, to train in the style of hip hop, at an industry level. It is the longest running hip hop intensive in Chicago serving over 500+ dancers during the last decade.
In addition to offering our annual Intensives, BOOM CRACK! has partnered with local nonprofits to provide education programs for Chicago's youth including: After School Matters and the Chicago Park District.
