COMPANY HISTORY
Founded in 2009, BOOM CRACK! Dance Company is a professional hip hop company based in Chicago, IL. Since inception, our purpose is to make music visible. BOOM CRACK! believes in bringing the art of hip hop dance to new audiences and increasing its representation by creating inspirational, concept-based sets that move audiences globally.

Our distinctive style breaks the boundaries of traditional hip hop dance and experiments with elements of contemporary and urban dance genres. Each time we take the stage, our performances are curated for a specific audience and tailored to that venue. Our entire artistic process including musical score, choreography, costume design, and visual design is curated in-house by our talented team of directors and choreographers.

Through our artistic diversity and creative concept-based performances, we aim to inspire and awaken the passion of dance in dancers and art enthusiasts.

ARTISTIC DIRECTION
Trae is the founder and Artistic Director of BOOM CRACK! Dance Company. He is an adjunct Professor at Columbia College Chicago as well as a teaching artist at Visceral Dance Center and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. He has completed choreography and artist development for recording artists including Kelis, Phenix Phenom, Andre McCray, Jess Godwin, R&B singer Kam, and teen sensation Yemi Marie. As a performer, he has opened for Ne-Yo, Rod Stuart, Janet Jackson, and many more. Trae continues to change the perception of hip hop dance by pushing its boundaries and showcasing hip hop on professional platforms.

LOOKBOOK
All costuming, company merch, and speciality attire is designed, sourced, and printed in-house! We pride ourselves on being a full service creative team that is able to elevate our brand through hip hop fashion and culture.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Our Summer Intensives were established to create a platform for the Chicago and Midwest dance community, to train in the style of hip hop, at an industry level. It is the longest running hip hop intensive in Chicago serving over 500+ dancers during the last decade.

In addition to offering our annual Intensives, BOOM CRACK! has partnered with local nonprofits to provide education programs for Chicago's youth including: After School Matters, and the Chicago Park District.
